Summer Newsletter 2026

Hello and welcome to Kitty's Launderette’s Summer Newsletter!

This is just a little update on all the lovely things we've been up to, and an invitation to come and join us sometime soon, between the party, social clubs and all the other community activity we have going on. There's always something to catch your fancy, or if not, come down for a cuppa and a chat, and even a slice of toast if you’re lucky.

Firstly, we would love for you to come and join us for our street party! We will be hosting it alongside Two Up Two Down, formerly known as the Homebaked CLT for a wonderful day of food, dance, song and merriment!

Washing is our service Community is our mission !

Since opening in 2019 we have done more washing than you could ever imagine. We’ve always set out to support members of our community at risk of Hygiene Insecurity by offering subsidised DIY services as well as a free washing/drying scheme delivered with local charity partners. But we want our work and impact at Kitty’s to reach beyond the walls of the launderette. We offer support to our community via support drop-in’s, creative events/activities and educational projects. Here’s what we have been up to recently...

Hygiene Insecurity School Workshops

e delivered workshops to local school children at Pinehurst Primary school on the topic of Hygiene Insecurity. These workshops are apart of our ongoing research project with John Moores University which aims not only to create better systems of support for those in Hygiene Poverty but also help to break down stigma and raise awareness about the topic. Art in The Park

Alongside Friends of Everton Park we ran the first Art in The Park event near the new children’s playground. Over 100 children and family members took part in free arts activities ranging from printmaking using natural materials to writing a collective poem with the help of Windows Project.

Our creative workshops are always free to attend. We believe that art should be accessible to all and has the power to help people express themselves.

Community Drop-In’s

We have hosted several community drop-in’s with Citizens Advice, Riverside Housing and Everton in The Community. Their support has meant that people have been able to receive advice on issues with housing, debt and the cost of living crises. EiTC even offered us Free Community health checks which was accessed by 18 people.

Here is a picture of members of Kitty’s team receiving training in how to support customers with basic energy advice.

What’s coming up…

Kitty’s on the road

Have you spotted our Kitty’s delivery van out and about?

Last summer we ran a Crowdfunder which, thanks to lots of generous support, helped us raise £20,000! These funds were to help towards the cost our electric van and also to install solar panels on our roof.

We’re delighted to say that we now have our electric van and it’s on the road. We are busy collecting and dropping back off laundry from commercial clients across the city 5 days a week! At the moment the service is limited to commercial clients but we’re hoping to launch personal deliveries next year.

As for our solar panels. Expect too see them installed on our roof in the near future helping us to reduce our energy costs which is the biggest cost to our business.

Both our van and solar panels are helping us to become a more sustainable and ecological business that creates positive impact on the planet as well as people!
