Dialogues Project
It all begins with an idea.
Every day, it feels like we’re being pushed further apart — by headlines, by politicians, by fear. Our communities are being divided along lines of race, identity and background, while those in power continue to profit from our disconnection.
But what if we could choose a different path? One rooted in curiosity, care, and collective strength?
Dialogues is a new project for anyone who wants to make sense of this moment — a space to ask big questions, share experiences, and build connections through creativity and conversation.
Over four sessions at Kitty’s Launderette, we’ll come together to explore themes like:
How division is used to distract and disempower
What we can learn from moments of resistance and solidarity
How we speak across difference — and really listen
What hope and action look like in our communities today
Led by local author John Thompson and artist Tom Doubtfire, the project will use writing, photography and other creative exercises to help us reflect, express, and imagine. The work we create will form part of a public exhibition at Kitty’s Launderette later this summer.
You don’t have to be an “artist” to get involved in this project. We all have ways of our own ways of being creative and these sessions will explore how we can use our creativity to communicate ideas and start conversations.
If this sounds like the project for you then sign up by following the link here or by popping in to the launderette to register your interest
